New South Wales Legislation - Weekly Bulletin

Web enhancements

Recent enhancements (December 2002) (www.legislation.nsw.gov.au)

Following the launch and first few months of operation of the new website, and in response to user feedback, a number of enhancements have been made to the site.

Environmental Planning Instruments (EPIs)
These are now displayed as a separate category of instrument and appear with their own listings just like Acts and Regulations. You can now perform global searches and browse EPIs from the In Force, As Made and Repealed databases. The collection of principal Local Environmental Plans is now complete.

Limit search to year/number
This new feature allows you to limit or narrow your searches to a particular year, or, if you know the number of the instrument, to a particular Act, Regulation or EPI. This feature was requested by many specialist users of legislation.

Repealed legislation warning
Each page of a repealed title now includes a warning message that the title has been repealed. You can also access historical versions of repealed legislation, where they exist.

Historical versions of repealed legislation
These have been added to the site. The list of versions indicates which was the last version before repeal and a warning message displays on each page that a title is an historical version of repealed legislation. Also, the list of Historical versions for In Force and Repealed legislation is now more effectively displayed in table format (limited to 10 entries per page) starting with the most current version and working backwards in time.

Parent Act
The name of the Act under which statutory instruments (including EPIs) are made has been added to the Status Information for In Force statutory instruments and EPIs.

Table of Contents for Whole instrument
The text of the Table of Contents has been added to the display of a Whole Instrument, including hypertext links. This feature will be particularly helpful when printing out copies of whole instruments.

Changes to Status information
Refinements have been made to the status information alerts and warning messages to reflect the site additions and enhancements outlined above. Other changes include improved information about the currency of a version and alteration of the warning that displays when a historical version does not contain the text of certain amendments having a retrospective commencement.

Allocation of Administration of Acts
This instrument has been added to the In Force database under Regulations etc In Force. The Allocation of the Administration of Acts is approved by the Governor and published in the Government Gazette. This sets out the Ministers that are responsible for particular Acts and for Regulations under those Acts.

The website is to be formally reviewed in 2003 and additional feedback from users is encouraged.
